The financial support for the families of children suffering from cancer aims to provide partial relief from the exorbitant costs and debts that parents are subject to, especially when it comes to treatment abroad. There are many cases where families with children with cancer are financially ruined, ending up even selling their homes.
The Association’s income comes from contributions from members, assessors and sponsors and from various charity events that the Association often organises on a completely voluntary basis.
The financial assistance of the ODOW is categorized as follows:
- Given to children and young people hospitalized in public and private hospitals in Cyprus
- Given to children and young people going to hospitals abroad:
- for medical examinations and check-ups
- for surgical procedures
- for bone marrow transplants
- for continued stay abroad for treatment
In addition to the above financial assistance, the Association also covers the costs of:
- Psychological therapy
- Physical therapies / Speech therapies
- Vaccines
- Wigs
- Birthday parties for children hospitalized in Cypriot hospitals
- Funeral expenses
